Abstract: 

Introduction: The Aphasia Check List (ACL) is a comprehensive, time-saving tool for language evaluation in aphasia, including a cognitive assessment part. This cross-sectional study aimed to translate ACL into Persian and analyze the psychometric features of the translated version. The original version of the ACL was translated and adapted from German,its psychometric features were then determined. Methods: Twenty People With Aphasia (PWA) and 50 age-and education-matched, cognitively healthy controls participated in this research. Possible floor and ceiling effects, discriminant validity, test-retest reliability, and internal consistency of the test were analyzed in addition to the evaluation of internal correlations between the test parts (language & cognition). Results: Regarding the performance of PWAs in the language section and the cognitive subtests assessing attention, memory, and reasoning, there were no floor and ceiling effects. Adequate discriminant validities for the language section of the test [i. e., total score: (Mann-Whitney U= 6. 000, P<0. 001),diagnostic subtests scores: (Mann-Whitney U= 3. 000, P<0. 001), and each subtest individually. Besides, the attention subtest of the cognition section (Mann-Whitney U= 16. 500, P<0. 001) was also observed. There was no difference between the control and patient groups in the subtests of memory (Mann-Whitney U= 497. 500, P=0. 973) and reasoning (Mann-Whitney U= 3. 000, P= 308). The test-retest reliability was acceptable in all subtests (ICC agreement= 0. 573-0. 984). The ACL-P suggested appropriate internal consistency (Cronbach’, s alpha coefficient= 0. 761 for test & retest scores). There were also significant correlations between language and cognition in the control and patient groups. Conclusion: The ACL-P test indicated sufficient reliability and validity for the evaluation of Persian-speaking PWAs and is suggested to be used in studies on this population.

Abstract: 

In a survey conducted on hoverflies (Dip.: Syrphidae), in Marand during 1997-99, 9 indentified species belonged to 3 genera: Eristalis, Eristalinus and Scaeva. In the genus Eristalis 2 species: Eristalis arbostorum (L.) and E. tenax (L.) and in the genus Eristalinus 3 species: E. taeniops (Wiedemann), E. megacephalus (Rossi) and E. aeneus (Wiedemann), and in the genus Scaeva: 4 species, Scaeva pyrastri (L.), S. albomaculata (Brunetti), S. latimaculata (Mac quart) S. rossica (Kuznetsov) were identified, respectively. The collecting was done using sweepnet, whilst insects in immature stages, were hand collected and reared under laboratory conditions of 25±2, 60±5 R.H, and 12L: 12D regime and resulting adults were then identified. The most common species appeared to be Eristalis tenax and E. arbostorum. A simple identification key to the species and the relevant figures are provided as a further aid in recognition of the presented species.

Introduction: The prime role of the medical teacher of the future will be to provide his or her students with learning opportunity and to direct them to the proper resources rather than to teach, so the more presence of scientific board members in clinical wards can lead us to this goal. At this study we answer to this question that How will the quality of clinical education improve with increase in the presence of scientific board members?Methods: This research was a cross sectional study in which population &sampling included 50 members of attending with at least 2 years teaching experience.We prepared two Check Lists about before and after reform. At the first one we asked them their weekly programs and then, we recorded their activity each day after reform and reviewed it by educational deputy of hospital. There was a better quality and quantity in their activities after reform.Results: Before the reform, only 30% of the time of scientific board members was related to the university and after that it changed to 50%, before reform journal club was 15% and ground round 10% in clinical wards and after reform these changed to 87% & 60% respectively.Conclusion: This significant results show that the use of Total Quality Management and cooperation of scientific board members can increase their clinical activity and students can have a good education with more time with their attending that provides them with enough opportunity.
